  • Set up

    1. There are two main card types in Matica Quest. The Playing Card Deck full of Digit and Action Cards and the Quest Deck full of quests to solve. Separate the two decks.

    2. Players are dealt 5 cards from the Playing Card Deck (digits and actions). The deck is then placed face down in the middle of the table.

    3. The Quest Deck is placed face down next to the playing card deck. Place 3 of the Quest Card face up. These are the quests that players can attempt to complete during their turn.

    4. If playing with younger players, separate the quest cards into Easy, Medium and Hard. Have younger players solve Easy quests while older players can solve Medium and Hard Quests.

    5. Youngest player goes first attempting to solve one of the quest cards by using +, -, x, .

  • Turn Order

    1. Activate any class card abilities (See Extended Rules) or play The Magical Vortex Card.

    2. Solve Quest cards by using +, -, x and combined with playing digit and action cards from your hand to equal the number on the top of the quest card.

    3. If a Quest was solved, take that quest card and place it face up on the table in front of you to track your points. Discard all the digit cards you used. Flip another Quest Card face up to replace the Quest you solved.

    4. If you can not solve any of the 3 quests successfully, pass to the next player and discard your hand.

    5. Draw cards from deck to reset hand size back to five.

    6. Resolve only ONE of the actions used when completing the quest, if any.

  • Winning The Game

The game ends when the first player completes 7 quests. Players may agree to play a different preset number of quests (5-10 works well.) Players then count up the points on their quest cards, and the player with the most points wins. NOTE: This may not be the same person who finished the most quests.

  • Optional Rules

Digits 1-9 can not be combined together to make multi-digit numbers on their own

Only Zeros may be combined with other digit cards (0-9) to make multi-digit numbers

Wild Digits are any number 1-9

Don’t forget about using parentheses when completing quests!

Players hand size can not be below 3 cards due to effects of other players.
